Hennings leads BU to 64-32 win over PC on Senior Night

BELLEVUE, Neb. -- Senior Miranda Hennings drained four 3-pointers and scored 15 points to lead the Bellevue University women's basketball team to a 64-32 victory over visiting Presentation College Saturday night in North Star Athletic Association action at the Gordon Lozier Athletic Center. 

Win the win, the Bruins improved to 15-9 on the season and 9-2 in the NSAA. Presentation fell to 1-21 overall and 0-11 in league play. 

Hennings was joined in double figures by Delaney VanBlaricon, who matched Hennings' four 3-pointers, scoring 12 points while adding three rebounds. 

Asha Scott finished with eight points and a game-high nine rebounds, along with three assists. Faith Ross added seven points and a game-high four assists in the win. 

Emma Ogitchida led all players with 18 points, going 7-of-15 from the field and 2-of-3 from long range.  

The Bruins only hit two of their first 15 shots as the Saints took an early 10-8 lead. BU went 6-of-6 from the charity stripe to manage a tie at 10-all after the opening 10 minutes of play.  

Bellevue created some separation, using a 15-0 run early in the second quarter to take a 27-12 lead with five minutes left before halftime. Neither team scored for over three minutes as BU took a 30-16 advantage into the halftime break. 

Ashtyn Arnold and Laura Jurek led BU in the opening half with seven points apiece. Scott and Ross each scored six points in the opening half. 

Ogitchida scored 14 of PC's 16 first-half points, going 5-of-8 from the field and 2-of-2 from long range.

The Saints scored the first eight points of the second half to slice the lead to single digits at 30-24 with seven minutes remaining in the third quarter. 

The Bruins drained a two-straight 3-pointers, and BU ended the third frame on a 7-0 run to take a 41-26 lead heading into the final stanza. 

Two-straight 3-pointers by Hennings gave the Bruins a 21-point lead at 47-26 with 7:31 left in the contest. 

Three triples by VanBlaricon highlighted a 17-4 BU run to end the game as the Bruins cruised to the 64-32 victory. 

The Bruins will travel to Valley City, N.D., next Friday, Feb. 10, for a 5:30 p.m. showdown with Valley City State University.
