Ross picks up NSAA Player of the Week Award

MADISON, S.D. -- Bellevue University sophomore Faith Ross (Gretna, Neb.) has been named the North Star Athletic Association Women's Basketball Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.

Ross helped the Bruins to a 1-1 record last week, scoring in double figures in each of BU's games as she averaged 11.5 points and shot 53.3 percent from the field, including a strong 46.2 percent showing from behind the arc.

Against No. 5-ranked Dordt, Ross tallied 11 points on 4-of-8 shooting and a 3-of-7 effort from deep.

In helping lead the Bruins to an 83-60 triumph over Cottey on Saturday, Ross drained three more three-pointers and shot 4-of-7 from the floor on her was to scoring 12 points and pulling down five rebounds.

Ross becomes the second different Bruin to win the award this season, joining Elexis Martinez who has earned NSAA Player of the Week honors three times (Nov. 4, Nov. 18, Dec. 2) on the season. It marks the first time in Ross' career that she has been named NSAA Player of the Week.

Bellevue is off until they host the Fairfield Inn & Suites Bruin Classic on Sunday-Monday, Dec. 29-30. BU hosts College of the Ozarks on Sunday at 3 p.m. and Haskell Indian Nations University on Monday at 3 p.m.
