NEVADA, Mo. -- Five different Bruins scored in double figures and BU posted a 41-point advantage in bench scoring as the Bellevue University women's basketball team earned an 83-60 non-conference victory over Cottey College on Saturday afternoon at the Hinkhouse Center Gymnasium.

Bellevue dealt with foul trouble in the first half as all five starters picked up two fouls by the halftime break. The bench kept BU in the game in the second quarter as they scored 16 of the Bruins' 18 points in the period to give Bellevue a 39-28 at the break.

Out of the intermission, the Bruins posted a 16-2 run over a span of 5:05 to seize control of the game. By the end of the quarter, BU possessed a 65-53 advantage which they never let drop below 15 points in the fourth quarter.

After a couple of sub-par performances from deep, Bellevue got their three-point shooting going on Saturday by connecting on 13-of-28 treys. Miranda Hennings drained five long balls on six attempts while Lexi Allen and Faith Ross hit on 4-of-6 and 3-of-6, respectively.

Two Bruins notched career-high scoring games with Ayiana Uhde dropping in 11 points and Hennings going for 15. Allen tossed in a season-best 12 points. Taeha Pankey and Ross were the other Bruins in double figures with 12 points apiece.

Elexis Martinez pulled down a team-high eight rebounds and Jerrene Richardson dished out a game-high five assists.

Kelsey Acton scored a game-high 20 points to lead Cottey while pulling in eight boards and adding three steals. Latasha Griggs scored 14 for the Comets and Taylor Coonce netted a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.

Uhde, Pankey, and Jamie Winkler each registered three steal for BU who forced Cottey into 21 turnovers on the afternoon. Bellevue turned the ball over just 14 times and held a 23-14 edge in points off turnovers and a 48-7 advantage in bench points.
