OMAHA, Neb. -- Cassie Jones scored a game-high 16 points off the bench to lead five Bruins in double figures as the Bellevue University women's basketball team picked up an 89-67 non-conference victory over College of St. Mary on Tuesday evening at the Lied Fitness Center.

Bellevue opened the game strong, going up 16-2 by the 3:19 mark of the first quarter on a layup from Jerrene Richardson.
The Flames responded with a 13-5 run to close the period to cut the BU lead to just six points, 21-15.
Bellevue slowly grew the lead back to double figures and took a 45-33 lead into halftime.
The Bruins came out hot to start the second half as well, grabbing a 57-38 lead on an old-fashioned three-point play from Elexis Martinez.
BU saw the lead swell to as many as 24 points, 76-52, on a three-pointer from Delaney VanBlaricon, her first collegiate points.
Richardson had a terrific all-around game for the Bruins, finishing with 15 points, six rebounds, three assists, and three steals.
Jamie Winkler scored in double figures for the third-straight game, finishing with 12 points on 4-of-8 shooting and dished out six assists.
Cassie Jones scored a team-high 16 points off the bench as the Bruin reserves out-scored CSM's by a 43-17 margin. Martinez scored 13 points and blocked three shots and Faith Ross scored 12 and dished out four assists.
Bellevue out-shot the Flames 50.8-43.9 percent and drained 12 three-pointers on 23 attempts (52.2 percent). CSM sank 10 treys on 25 tries to shoot an even 40 percent from deep.
Lynsey Curran hit five triples to lead the Flames with 15 points. She was joined in double figures by Veronica Kobza, who chipped in 13 points to go along with four rebounds and three assists, and Clare Lewandowski who narrowly missed a double-double finishing with 12 points and nine boards.

Bellevue hosts the BU/NCC Classic this weekend. The Bruins play their home-opener on Friday at 3 p.m. against Midland and come back to face Cottey College on Saturday at 1 p.m.
