Bruins win thriller over Grand View, 66-64

DES MOINES, Iowa -- The Bellevue University women's basketball team remained unbeaten with a thrilling, 66-64, victory at Grand View University Friday night in the Bruins' first game of the Grand View Classic at Sisam Arena. 

Bellevue improved to 4-0 on the season with the win. The Vikings fell to 0-1 overall. 

Senior Beth Walker hit a short baseline jumper off the glass with 1.9 seconds remaining to give the Bruins the 66-64 advantage. The Vikings could not get a shot off as BU pulled out the two-point victory. 

Walker led four Bruins in double figures with 15 points to go along with four rebounds and four assists. Elexis Martinez added 14 points and two assists. Ryleigh McCartney finished with 11 points and Taylor Cormier collected 10 points, five rebounds, and a game-high seven assists.  

Maddie Westergard led the Vikings with 15 points and 18 rebounds. 

Neither team led by more than five points in the contest. 

The Bruins continue action at the tournament on Saturday with a 4 p.m. contest against Midland University.
