Bellevue University head softball coach Michala Cimino announced today the fifth signee in the 2025-26 recruiting class with the addition of catcher Paige Stecyk (Calgary, Alberta/National Sport School). Stecyk, who will be the first Canadian BU softball player in program history, will begin her academic and athletic careers at BU beginning in the fall of 2025.
Stecyk prepped at National Sport School under coaches Dwayne Singer and Jamie Olson. She batted a stellar .510 in her senior season with eight home runs, 15 doubles, four triples, eight stolen bases, and 48 RBIs.
Stecyk was named the most valuable player for the Calgary Adrenaline in 2022. She helped her club squad, Calgary Kaizen, place third at the Canadian National Championship in 2024. She had the top batting average at the 2024 Canadian Nationals, and also the most runners caught stealing in a season.
An excellent student, Stecyk was named to her school's Honor Roll every year of her high school career.
Stecyk joins earlier signees right-handed pitcher Carly Bertolini (Papillion, Neb./Papillion-LaVista High School), catcher Alivia Courter (Yutan, Neb./Millard West HS), infielder Macie Wyman (Omaha, Neb./Millard West HS), and catcher Bayla Bodnar (Ralston, Neb./Ralston HS) in the 2025-26 recruiting class.
The Bruins will begin the 2025 season on Feb. 7-8, when they travel to Branson, Mo., for four games. On the opening weekend, BU will battle Sterling, Mission (Mo.), Calumet, and Central Methodist.
