Cimino signs Miranda Garcia for 2024-25

Bruin head softball coach Michala Cimino announced today the fourth signee in BU's 2024-25 recruiting class with the addition of infielder Miranda Garcia (Los Lunas, N.M./College of Southern Nevada/Valencia HS). Garcia will continue her academic and athletic pursuits at Bellevue University beginning in the fall of 2024.

Garcia played two seasons at the College of Southern Nevada and will have two years of eligibility remaining with the Bruins. She batted .350 last season with three doubles, a home run, and eight RBIs. In her two seasons with the Coyotes, Garcia amassed a .302 batting average with six doubles, two home runs, and 14 RBIs. 

Garcia, the daughter of Jeremiah and Amanda Garcia, prepped at Valencia HS under head coach Jeffery Young. She earned first-team all-conference honors and was named her team's most valuable player in her senior season, where she batted .348 with nine doubles, five home runs, 27 RBIs, and eight stolen bases. 

An excellent student, Garcia earned first-team academic all-conference honors and was a member of the National Honor Society at Valencia. 

Garcia played club softball for the New Mexico Sundancers under coach Paul Kohman.

Garcia joins earlier signees, infielder Kaitlyn Fisher (Omaha, Neb./Millard West HS), infielder Savannah Short (Independen,ce, Mo./Kansas City Kansas CC/Fort Osage HS), and pitcher Mariah Unverzagt (Papillion, Neb./ Johnson Country CC/Papillion-LaVists South HS) in the 2024-25 recruiting class.

The Bruins wrapped up the 2024 season with an overall record of 34-22 and a 19-3 mark in conference play, winning the North Star Athletic Association regular season title while finishing second in the NSAA post-season tournament. Bellevue advanced to the NAIA National Tournament for the 11th time in school history.
