BISMARCK, N.D. -- Katie Cunningham (Bellevue, Neb./Bellevue East HS) helped the Bellevue University softball program earn both North Star Athletic Association weekly honors as the junior pitcher was named the NSAA Player of the Week and the NSAA Pitcher of the Week. The Bruins swept the four-game conference series with Dickinson State University, improving to 18-13 overall and 7-1 in the NSAA.
Cunningham went 2-0 in the circle last week, allowing just two runs over 14 innings, striking out 14 batters in 13 innings pitched. She issued just three walks on the weekend while compiling a 1.08 ERA and a 0.77 WHIP.
Cunningham recorded at least one hit in all four games against Dickinson State, including a 3-for-3 performance with two home runs in BU's 5-2 victory in the opening game of the series. She batted .467 on the week, with four runs scored, four RBIs, and an .867 slugging percentage.
In the latest NSAA statistics, Cunningham leads the league with a 1.87 ERA, 10 wins, and 69 strikeouts.
The Bruins, who have a six-game winning streak, will head to Mayville, N.D. this Friday-Saturday, April 5-6, for a four-game conference series at Mayville State University. Friday's doubleheader will begin at 11 a.m. The first pitch on Saturday is at noon.
