BISMARCK, N.D. -- For the second-straight week, junior Katie Cunningham has been named the North Star Athletic Association Pitcher of the Week for her performances in last weekend's home conference series against Valley City State University.
Cunningham went 2-0 on the week giving up just two runs in 14 innings pitched. She struck out 14 batters while compiling a 1.00 ERA. Cunningham also recorded an impressive 0.86 whip on the week.
In the first game of the series with VCSU, Cunningham allowed just one run while striking out nine without a walk in BU's 5-1 victory over the Vikings. She followed that up with a win in the third game of the series, allowing one run on five hits with one walk and five strikeouts in the Bruins' 6-1 triumph over VCSU.
Cunningham currently leads the NSAA with seven wins on the season and is second with 47 strikeouts and a 2.21 ERA.
Bellevue (12-13, 3-1 NSAA) will travel to Peru, Neb., this Friday, Mar. 22, for a 1 p.m. non-conference doubleheader at Peru State College.
