BISMARCK, N.D. -- Bellevue University student-athletes Katie Cunningham (Bellevue, Neb.) and Sami Reding (Papillion, Neb.) have been selected as the North Star Athletic Association's Softball Pitcher and Player of the Week, as announced by the league off on Monday afternoon
Cunningham, a sophomore right-hander, logged 10 innings across three appearances as she posted a 2-0 mark to go along with a tidy 0.70 ERA. She struck out 12 (8.4 K/7) and issued just two walks while limiting opponents to a .179 batting average and 0.90 WHIP.
Reding, a sophomore outfielder, hit .615 with an OPS of 2.014 that saw her blast a pair of home runs, rip three doubles, drive in five runs, and swipe six stolen bases. Redding had a trio of multi-hit games recording a pair of doubles against Waldorf, two home runs at Peru State, and a three hits including a double at Presentation.
Winners of 14-straight overall, Bellevue now stands at 30-9 on the season while sporting an 18-2 mark in conference play. The Bruins return home tomorrow to host MidAmerica Nazarene in a non-conference double-header at Roy Smith Field.
