BISMARCK, N.D. – Junior outfielder Myla Beckstrom (Omaha, Neb.) and senior pitcher Lauren Jurek (Bellevue, Neb.) helped the Bellevue University softball team sweep the weekly North Star Athletic Association awards for their performances in the Bruins' four league wins over Dickinson State University last week.
Beckstrom hit .538 on the week with two home runs, a double, and a 1.167 slugging percentage as the Bruins swept their home NSAA four-game series with Dickinson State. She hit a walk-off home run in BU's 3-2 game-three victory over the Blue Hawks. Beckstrom also collected four RBIs, scored five runs, including a pair of home runs, and swiped two bases. She posted an on-base percentage of .667 during the four-game series and recorded five put-outs in the series.
Jurek did not allow a run in 8.2 innings pitched. She registered a 2-0 record in the pitching circle, allowing just four hits and two walks over two games. Jurek struck out a total of 10 batters in the series.
The Bruins (21-9, 10-2 NSAA) will host Dakota State University (10-16, 9-3 NSAA) on Wednesday, April 12, in a 2 p.m. doubleheader at Roy Smith Field.
