
SIOUX CENTER, Iowa -- Undefeated Northwestern (Iowa) College pounded out eight hits and rode the solid pitching effort of Kameryn Etherington en route to a 6-0 victory over Bellevue University Friday afternoon at the Dordt Classic being played at the American State Bank Sports Complex.
NWC improved to 14-0 on the season with the win while the Bruins dropped to 4-1 overall.
Emily Strasser's two-run double to left field gave the Raiders an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning.
Etherington got out of a one-out bases-loaded jam in the top of the fourth by striking out Lauren Jurek and inducing a fly out to centerfield by Madison Machacek to keep the score at 2-0.
Northwestern added four runs on four hits in the bottom of the sixth, highlighted by an RBI single to center field by Maddie Kvatek and a run-scoring double to right field by Cassidy Gors, increasing the margin to 6-0.
Etherington recorded three strikeouts in the top of the seventh to secure the Raider shutout.
Cory Carrillo (0-1) suffered the loss, giving up two runs on three hits with four strikeouts in four innings of work.

Bellevue will conclude action at the tournament on Saturday (Feb. 25) with a 10 a.m. contest against Morningside University and a noon matchup with host Dordt University.
