LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The Bellevue University softball coaching staff under the leadership of head coach Michala Cimino was named the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Region III Coaching Staff of the Year in an announcement made today by the organization.
Cimino and her staff of assistant coaches Kelly Cheshier, Jeanne Scarpello, and Aimee Supanich, finished 2022 with a 42-13 overall record and 24-2 mark in North Star Athletic Association action. The Bruins won the NSAA regular-season title and were the NSAA Tournament runner-up.
Cimino was named NSAA Coach of the Year for the fourth time in her career, while eight Bruins were selected to the NSAA first team, including Pitcher of the Year Katie Cunningham and Newcomer of the Year Reese Floro.
Floro was named first-team NFCA all-Region, while Cunningham and senior outfielder Maricela Egan garnered second-team honors.
The coaching staff is now eligible for National Coaching Staff of the Year honors, which will be announced in early June.
