OMAHA, Neb. -- The Bellevue University softball team recorded a pair of run-rule victories over visiting Presentation College on Sunday afternoon, to complete the four-game series sweep over the Saints in North Star Athletic Association action at Roy Smith Field. 

With the two wins, the Bruins improved to 36-11 on the season and 22-2 in the NSAA. Presentation fell to 11-23 overall and 5-14 in league play.  

The Bruins will head to Mayville, N.D. next Saturday-Sunday, April 30-May 1, for the final conference series of the season at Mayville State University. Saturday's doubleheader will begin at 1 p.m. The first pitch on Sunday will be at noon. 

Game 1: Bellevue 11, Presentation 3 (5 innings)

Lauren Jurek went 3-for-3 at the plate and drove in three runs while earning the win in the circle, as BU secured the 11-3 win in the opener in five innings. Jurek recorded a single, double, and home run in the victory. 

A two-run homer to right field by Maricela Egan highlighted a three-run second inning as BU took an early 3-0 lead.

The Bruins increased the advantage to 4-0 in the bottom of the third on an RBI double down the left-field line by Katie Cunningham

A two-run double down the left-field line by Cassy Loa sliced the lead to 4-2 in the top of the fourth frame.

BU responded in the bottom of the fourth with an RBI single up the middle by Liana McMurtry and a three-run homer to right-center field by Jurek to expand the lead to 8-2.

An RBI single to center field by Sarah Shevenell made it 8-3 in the top of the fifth inning. 

The Bruins ended the game on a two-run single to center field by Reese Floro and an RBI groundout to second base by McMurtry, to make the final, 11-3. 

Jurek improved to 8-2 on the season, allowing three runs on seven hits with one walk and three strikeouts in five innings of work. 

Yulissa Pena suffered the loss, giving up 11 runs on 11 hits with six walks and no strikeouts in four innings.  

Game 2: Bellevue 9, Presentation 1 (5 innings)

The raced out to a 6-0 lead in the first two innings and never looked back en route to the 9-1 victory in the nightcap. 

A fielding error by PC center fielder Breanna Dunn following a single by Ashley Young allowed BU to score the first run of the game in the bottom of the first inning.

A two-run single to right field by Allison O'Driscoll sparked a five-run second inning to increase the margin to 6-0. BU scored three runs on a pair of Saint fielding errors and on a wild pitch by PC pitcher Sarah Shevenell.

A sacrifice fly to left field by Floro increased the BU advantage to 7-0 in the bottom of the third stanza. 

The Saints got on the board in the top of the fourth with an RBI single to center field by Skye Carter, cutting the lead to 7-1. 

A two-run inside-the-park home run by Floro ended the contest at 9-01 in the fifth inning. Floro drove in three runs in the victory. 

Cory Carrillo improved to 7-2 on the season, allowing just two hits with one walk and one strikeout in 3.1 innings in the circle. 

Shevenell (8-13) was tagged with the loss, giving up nine runs on eight hits with five walks and five strikeouts in 4.2 innings of work.
