OMAHA, Neb. -- After cruising to an 8-1 win in the opener, the Bellevue University softball team used a two-out walk-off RBI infield single by Sami Reding to pull out a dramatic 5-4 victory in the nightcap over Dakota State University Wednesday afternoon at Roy Smith Field. 

With the two wins, the Bruins improved to 30-11 on the season and 16-2 in the NSAA. DSU fell to 16-21 overall and 11-7 in league play.  

These same two teams will meet again tomorrow in Madison, S.D. for a 3 p.m. doubleheader. 

Game 1: Bellevue 8, Dakota State 1

Lauren Jurek drove in four runs and Katie Cunningham picked up her 10th win of the season as BU collected the 8-1 victory in the opener.

The Trojans produced three hits in the opening frame, including an RBI single to right field by Xotchil Lopez to give DSU an early 1-0 advantage. 

A groundout RBI by Jurek scored Reese Floro from third, tying the contest at 1-1 in the bottom of the first. 

The Bruins took a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the third on a two-run double to center field by Jurek. 

Another run-scoring double by Jurek extended the BU advantage to 4-1 in the bottom of the fifth inning. 

A solo homer to left field by Allison O'Driscoll, an RBI single to center field by Sami Reding, and a two-run triple to right field by Liana McMurtry made it 8-1 in the bottom of the sixth stanza. 

Cunningham improved to 10-6 on the season, scattering seven hits with one walk and seven strikeouts in seven innings of work. 

Angela Slattery (7-6) suffered the loss, allowing three runs on six hits with one walk and one strikeout in 4.1 innings. 

Cunningham went 2-for-2 at the plate with a pair of doubles. Reding finished 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored.  

Game 2: Bellevue 5, Dakota State 4 (8 innings)

The Bruins overcame a 4-2 deficit, getting leadoff home runs in the sixth and seventh innings before ending the game on a walk-off infield single by Reding to earn the 5-4 victory and the sweep. 

Floro scored from third on a wild pitch from Slattery and O'Driscoll drove in Ashley Young on an RBI single to left field to give the Bruins a 2-0 advantage in the bottom of the first inning. 

The Trojans sliced the lead in half with a solo homer to left field by Sarah Torres in the top of the third inning, making it 2-1. 

DSU tied the game at 2-2 in the top of the fourth frame on an RBI single down the left-field line by Rosie Philop. 

Michelle Evdos gave the Trojans their first lead of the day in the top of the fifth inning, with a two-run homer to center field, making it 4-2 in favor of DSU. 

Young led off the bottom of the sixth with a solo homer over the center-field fence to pull the Bruins to within a run at 4-3 entering the seventh stanza. 

Emily Rochford launched a solo homer to center field to tie the contest at 4-4 in the bottom of the seventh frame.

O'Driscoll led off the eighth with a double to left field. Pinch-runner Alexa Sidel reached third on a wild pitch by Philop, setting up Reding's game-winning single to end the contest. 

Cunningham (11-6) picked up her second win on the day, allowing just one hit with two walks and three strikeouts in the final 2.1 innings of the contest. 

Philop (1-4) suffered the loss, giving up one run on two hits with no walks and one strikeout in 1.2 innings.
