MADISON, S.D. -- Junior Lauren Jurek has been named the North Star Athletic Association's Pitcher of the Week for her performances in the circle last week as the Bruins competed at the Spring Games in Kissimmee, Fla.
Jurek went 3-1 on the week compiling an ERA of 2.00 with 21 total strikeouts in 28 innings pitched.
She allowed just four hits with no walks and six strikeouts in BU's 6-2 win over Keiser University. In a 5-1 victory over William Penn, Jurek scattered six hits with just one walk and four strikeouts in seven-complete innings. She fanned five batters with one walk and seven hits in BU's 5-2 victory over Northwestern Ohio.
Jurek currently leads the 2021 Bruins with a 7-5 record, a 1.99 ERA, and 67 strikeouts.
The Bruins will next be in action on March 26-27 when they open conference play by hosting Mayville State University. Friday's doubleheader will begin at 3:00 p.m. and Saturday's twinbill will commence at 1:00 p.m.
Note: This Wednesday's scheduled non-conference doubleheader at Northwestern (Iowa) College has been canceled due to inclement weather and field conditions.
