MADISON, S.D. -- Junior Emily Rochford has been named the North Star Athletic Association Pitcher of the Week for her performance as the Bruins opened play this past weekend at the Spring Games in Kissimmee, Fla.
Rochford tossed a three-hit complete-game shutout victory over Cleary University on Mar. 1. In Bellevue's 7-0 win, Rochford struck out nine batters and walked two while allowing just three singles to improve to 1-1 on the season. She currently leads the Bruins with 8.56 strikeouts per seven innings pitched.
Rochford also helped her cause offensively as well, batting .429 on the week with two home runs and a 1.286 slugging percentage.
The Bruins continue play later today in the Spring Games when they battle Bethel (Ind.) at 1:30 p.m. and Siena Heights at 4:00 p.m.
