LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Freshman outfielder Grace Glotfelty and junior pitcher/third baseman Erin Sharpe were both named to the NFCA all-Region III softball first team as announced today by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.

The awards honor softball student-athletes from the Association's six regions. NFCA member coaches from each respective region vote on the teams and all the honorees now become eligible for selection to the 2018 NFCA NAIA All-American teams.

In her first season as a Bruin, Glotfelty also earned first-team all-North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) honors this season. She was second on the team with a .400 batting average, 15 doubles, 10 home runs, and 37 RBIs. She started all 55 games in the outfield as a freshman. Glotfelty ranked in the top 10 in the NSAA in eight different statistical categories, including second with 76 total hits.

For the second-straight season, Sharpe was named the NSAA Player of the Year. She led the Bruins with a .409 batting average, 19 home runs, 16 doubles and 55 RBIs. She also paced BU in the circle with 16 wins, a 1.85 ERA, and 138 strikeouts. In the final NSAA statistics, Sharpe led the league in home runs and RBIs, while ranking third in ERA.

In BU's final game of the season, Sharpe became the school's all-time career home runs leader. She has amassed 53 homers thus far in her three-year Bruin career.

The Bruins finished the 2018 season with a 32-23 overall record and a 13-11 conference mark. It marked the ninth-straight season that BU has won 30-or-more games.
