BELLEVUE, Neb. -- Dickinson State scored an unearned run in the bottom of the sixth inning to break a scoreless tie as the Blue Hawks edged Bellevue University, 1-0, in North Star Athletic Association softball action at the Lied Activity Center Softball Field Friday afternoon.

The loss dropped the Bruins to 25-19 on the season and 7-9 in the NSAA. DSU improved to 19-16 overall and 10-8 in league play.

Bellevue's second scheduled game of the day against Mayville State was canceled due to an unfavorable weather forecast.

Abigail Brooks (8-7) earned the complete-game shutout victory, allowing three hits with six walks and two strikeouts in seven innings in the circle.

Erin Sharpe suffered the loss, falling to 12-4 on the season, scattering six hits with two walks and two strikeouts in six innings of work.

Neither team scored until a bases-loaded RBI single to right field by Emilie Sickler drove in Andrea Rodriguez to give the Blue Hawks a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the sixth inning.

The Bruins threatened in the top of the seventh following a single to right field by Sarah Zeleny and Sharpe's fourth walk of the game to give BU runners on first and second with two outs. Brooks, however, ended the game by inducing an infield popout to secure the 1-0 victory for DSU.

The Bruins will host College of St. Mary on Wednesday, April 18, in a single 7-inning contest beginning at 5 p.m. at the Lied Activity Center.
