
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- In an announcement made today by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, three Bruin softball players, Kelli Fisher, Alex Tooley and Sayde Woten, were named 2017 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes. The trio joins a list of 395 student-athletes from across the nation who earned the prestigious honor.
In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved junior academic status.
Fisher is currently enrolled in graduate school at BU and is pursuing her master's degree in Organizational Performance.
Tooley is a junior majoring in Biology with a minor in Chemistry.
Woten is also a junior and she is pursuing a bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a Marketing emphasis.

Bellevue wrapped up the 2017 campaign with a 50-16 overall record. The Bruins went 20-6 in NSAA play, took home the regular-season crown, and reached the NSAA Championship Series. The Bruins advanced to the NAIA National Tournament for the ninth time in school history.
