
MADISON, S.D. -- Sophomore third baseman/pitcher Erin Sharpe was named the North Star Athletic Association's Player of the Week for her performances last week in the NSAA Tournament. It was the final installment of the softball weekly awards for the 2017 season.
Sharpe went 7-of-14 at the plate for a batting average of .500 in helping the Bruins finish second at the eight-team league tournament. The Bruins fell to Jamestown in the 2-of-3 game championship series.
The nation's leading home run hitter, Sharpe also recorded a slugging percentage of 1.000 during the tournament after hitting two home runs and a double. She also reached on base by a walk nine times and drove in three runs.
In three pitching appearances in the tournament, she posted an earned run average of 0.00 in 12 2/3 innings. Sharpe tossed a perfect game in BU's 1-0 Game 2 victory over Jamestown. She only gave up five hits and issued no walks in the pitching circle during the tournament.
The No. 23 ranked Bruins will learn of their postseason fate when the qualifiers and pairings for the NAIA National Championship Opening Round are announced at 6 p.m. on Wednesday.
