FREMONT, Neb. -- The Bellevue University softball team pounded out 32 hits, Kelli Fisher picked up a pair of wins in the circle, and Erin Sharpe blasted her 15th and 16th home runs of the season as the Bruins swept Midland University, 18-8 and 10-2 Thursday night in non-conference action at Christensen Field.
The Bruins improved to 29-8 on the season with the two wins and have now won 10-straight and 21 of their last 22 games. Midland fell to 12-14 overall.
Bellevue will travel to Mitchell, S.D. this Saturday-Sunday, April 8-9, for a four-game conference series at Dakota State University.
Game 1: Bellevue 18, Midland 8
The Bruins used a nine-run second inning and recorded a season-high 22 hits en route to the 18-8 win in the opener.
Hannah Carter went 5-for-5 with four RBIs and a double to lead the Bruins at the plate. Sayde Woten finished 3-for-3 with two RBIs, four runs scored and a home run. Seven Bruins registered multiple hits in the contest and 10 collected at least one hit.
Fisher picked up her 16th win in the opener, allowing just one hit and no walks with three strikeouts in 3.1 innings of work.
Game 2: Bellevue 10, Midland 2 (6 innings)
The Bruins pulled away with a six-run sixth inning and Fisher picked up her second win on the night as BU cruised to the 10-2 win in six innings in the nightcap.
Neither team scored until Maddie Siedlik's RBI double drove in Sydney Robertson, giving BU a 1-0 lead in the top of the third. The Warriors responded in the bottom half of the third when Katlin Anders' RBI single to center field drove in Nicole O'Haver and Tammie Yoshimori drove in Anders with a single to left field to give the Warriors a 2-1 advantage.
A sacrifice fly to left field by Siedlik tied the game and Sharpe's two-run homer gave BU a 4-2 margin in the top of the fifth.
The Bruins extended the advantage to 10-2 in the top of the sixth, highlighted by two-run singles from Carter and Kaitlyn Kinman and an RBI single by Michaela Miller.
Fisher improved to 17-3 on the season allowing two earned runs on 10 hits, while striking out two batters with no walks in six complete innings.
