MADISON, S.D. -- The Bellevue University softball team used a season-high 11 hits to pound out a 7-3 upset over 17th-ranked Dickinson State University Tuesday in North Star Athletic Association action on the campus of Dakota State University. 

Bellevue improved to 10-13 on the season and 2-1 in the NSAA. Dickinson fell to 19-7 on the season and 2-1 in league play. 

The Bluehawks grabbed a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second on a two-run double to center field by McKenzie Kenobbie. 

DSU extended the lead to 3-0 in the fourth following a triple by McKenzie Bassett and a sacrifice fly to right by Shannen Donnelly that drove in Bassett. 

The Bruins battled back in the top of the fifth with a three-run triple to deep right center field by Kayla Young and an RBI single up the middle by Katie Franzen, giving BU the lead at 4-3.

BU extended the lead to 5-3 in the top of the sixth on an RBI single to shallow center by Emily Miller

The Bruins added a pair of insurance runs in the top of the seventh on a two-run single by Maddie Siedlik, to push the BU advantage to 7-3. 

Kelli Fisher picked up the win, improving to 8-8 on the season, scattering four hits with three strikeouts and two walks in four innings in the circle. Erin Sharpe earned the save, allowing just one hit with one strikeout in the final three innings of the contest. 

Amanda Flores suffered the loss, giving up four runs on five hits with four strikeouts and two walks in 4.1 innings of work. 

The Bruins will finish out the trip with a 2 p.m. contest today against host Dakota State University.
