CLERMONT, Fla. -- The Bellevue University softball team dropped a tight 1-0 contest to Purdue-Calumet on Thursday afternoon at THE Spring Games. BU had walked-off against the Peregrines earlier in the week and Purdue-Calumet returned the favor today.

The loss snaps a four-game win streak for the Bruins who fall to 7-8 on the year. Purdue-Calumet improves to 5-9 with the win.

In the bottom of the seventh of a scoreless game, Purdue-Calumet came through to pick up the victory. After a strikeout leading off the inning, Holly Pagan doubled to left and pinch-runner Emily Cole came in to score on Olivia Sardella's single to center field.

Erin Sharpe (2-3, 1.94) took the loss in the circle for Bellevue despite another strong outing. In 6.1 innings she allowed just one run on five hits and struck out five without allowing a walk.

Pagan recorded the win for Purdue-Calumet to improve to 2-2. She held BU to just no hits with eight strikeouts.

The Bruins play another double-header tomorrow with game times set for 9 and 11 a.m. local time (8 a.m. and 10 a.m. CT). BU opens with #19 Marian and wraps up their Florida trip with Trinity International.
