Gigax captains OWH NAIA all-Nebraska team, 4 named to 1st team

OMAHA, Neb. -- For the second-consecutive year, senior All-American Ashley Gigax was named captain of the Omaha World-Herald's NAIA all-Nebraska team. In addition, fellow seniors Shelby Kindelin and Taylor Mohler, along with freshman catcher Sayde Woten were also named to the first team. 

Gigax, the 2015 MCAC Player of the Year and a first team NAIA and NFCA All-American, set school records in 2015 for most home runs (21) and highest slugging percentage (.871), while leading the Bruins with a .424 batting average, 72 hits, 56 RBIs and a .490 on-base percentage.

A six-time MCAC Player of the Week, Gigax earned first team all-MCAC honors for the second-straight season. Her 21 home runs led the nation. 

Mohler, an honorable mention All-American, capped her Bruin career by being named the 2015 MCAC Pitcher of the Year, while earning first team all-MCAC honors for the second time in her career. The 2014-15 Bellevue University Female Athlete of the Year, Mohler broke several school records, including career marks for most strikeouts (819), shutouts (25) and saves (6), while finishing second with 70 career wins. She led the Bruin pitching staff this season with 22 wins, a 1.31 ERA and a school-record 243 strikeouts. 

The team's lead-off batter and starting short stop for four-straight seasons, Kindelin earned her third first-team all-MCAC honor this season along with first team NFCA all-Central Region accolades. She led the team with 50 runs scored, six triples and 22 stolen bases, while finishing second with 10 home runs and 53 RBIs. Kindelin finished her career ranked second in school history in career doubles (48), triples (14), walks (73) and stolen bases (76).

Woten garnered first team all-MCAC honors, starting 55 of the team's 56 games at the Bruins' catcher. She batted .327 with 14 doubles, three home runs and 25 RBIs. 

Kelli Fisher, Sydney Robertson, Courtney Schendt and Alex Tooley all earned honorable mention honors on the NAIA all-Nebraska team. 

The Bruins ended the 2015 season with a 41-14-1 overall record, capturing the MCAC regular season and tournament titles while advancing the to the NAIA National Tournament for the seventh-time in school history.
