Mohler, Robertson named Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced Wednesday that Taylor Mohler and Sydney Robertson were named 2015 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes.

A total of 402 softball student-athletes were named to the presitigious list which was announced in conjunction with the 2015 NAIA Softball World Series being hosted by Morningside College in Sioux City.  

Mohler capped her Bruin career by being named the 2015 MCAC Pitcher of the Year, while earning first team all-MCAC honors for the second time in her career. The 2014-15 Bellevue University Female Athlete of the Year, Mohler broke several school records, including career marks for most strikeouts (819), shutouts (25) and saves (6), while finishing second with 70 career wins. She led the Bruin pitching staff this season with 22 wins, a 1.31 ERA and a school-record 243 strikeouts. 

Robertson earned first team all-MCAC honors for the second-straight year, finishing with a .327 batting average, while adding six doubles, nine RBIs and a team second-best 16 stolen bases. 

In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status.

The Bruins ended the 2015 season with a 41-14-1 overall record, capturing the MCAC regular season and tournament titles while advancing the to the NAIA National Tournament for the seventh-time in school history.
