BELLEVUE, Neb. -- Seniors Ashley Gigax and Taylor Mohler have been named the Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, as announced by the conference. The duo guided the Bruins to their third straight MCAC Tournament Championship and third straight appearance in the NAIA National Tournament.

Gigax, who earns Player of the Week honors for the fifth time this season and eighth time in her career, hit .500 in four MCAC Tournament games while hitting her NAIA-leading 20th home run of the year and providing the game-winning hit – a two-out RBI-triple – in the second championship game.

Mohler, who earns Pitcher of the Week honors for the fifth time this season and 13th time in her career, was 2-1 in three appearances while posting a 2.14 ERA and leading the Bruins into the championship round with an unbeaten record. She struck out 21 batters, against just three walks, in 16.1 innings. Mohler recorded her 800th career strikeout against Central Baptist.

Bellevue returns to the diamond on Monday, May 11 with a first round NAIA National Tournament Opening Round match-up against a yet-to-be-determined opponent.
