Kindelin, Fisher grab MCAC weekly honors

BELLEVUE, Neb. -- The Bellevue University softball team swept the weekly MCAC softball honors in announcement made today by the conference office. Senior shortstop Shelby Kindelin was named the MCAC Player of the Week and sophomore pitcher Kelli Fisher earned MCAC Pitcher of the Week honors. 

Kindelin, the team's leadoff batter, helped guide the Bruins to a 6-2 record last week, batting .560 with three home runs, two triples, 12 RBIs and 10 runs scored. She had multiple hits in three games, including two home runs in Bellevue's 3-2 loss to College of St. Mary on April 23. Kindelin had a 1.080 slugging percentage on the week and was a perfect 8-for-8 in stolen bases. 

Fisher recorded a 3-1 record on the week, including a one-hit 6-0 shutout win over Midland University on April 26. She registered a 1.63 ERA on the week, allowing just seven earned runs in 30 innings pitched, while adding 28 strikeouts and just seven wallks on the week. Fisher is 16-4 on the season with a 1.80 ERA and 133 strikeouts. 

The Bruins (36-11-1) captured the MCAC regular-season title with a 17-3 league mark and will host the MCAC Tournament this Thursday-Friday, April 30-May 1 at Hall of Fame Fields. Final pairings and seedings have not yet been released.
