BELLEVUE, Neb. - As part of the ongoing NAIA Champions of Character initiative, the Bellevue University softball team partnered with the Young Life organization in 2011, reaching out to area youth with Down's syndrome, autism, and other special needs. It marked the fourth year of Bellevue softball's partnership with Young Life.

The Bruins met with members of Young Life this past Thursday and played a friendly game of softball which was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone involved. Teams were comprised partially of Bellevue players and Young Life participants.

"Getting together with the Young Life organization is easily one of the favorite things we do with outreach programs," said head coach Michala Cimino. "Our student-athletes and coaches often find ourselves on the receiving end of the experience as much or more than on the giving," Cimino continued, before adding, "for us it's always and eye-opening experience and one which really makes us appreciate what we have and count our blessings."

Bellevue opens the 2015 season at the NFCA Leadoff Classic in Columbus, Ga. from Feb. 27 through March 1.
