LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Four Bellevue University softball players were named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) all-Southwest Region team.
Ashley Gigax was named to the first team while Kelli Fisher, Shelby Kindelin and Alyssa Matoba were awarded second team honors.
Gigax, the MCAC Newcomer of the Year and two-time conference Player of the Week, batted .358 batting average with a .617 slugging percentage, 48 RBIs, nine home runs and 11 doubles.
Redshirt freshman Fisher had a team-best 18 wins and threw a perfect game against Cardinal Stritch University on March 21. She has compiled 137 strikeouts with a 1.63 ERA in 159 innings in the circle.
Kindelin has a .378 batting average with 12 doubles, four triples, four home runs and a team-high 46 runs scored. The Plattsmouth, Neb. native also picked up a win and struck out 20 batters as a pitcher.
Matoba, who is hitting .395 with 38 runs, leads the team with 23 stolen bases and a .451 on-base percentage. She also has the third-most career stolen bases in Bruin history with 53.
Bellevue finished the 2014 season with a 36-17 overall record and a 16-4 mark in the MCAC. The Bruins advanced to the NAIA National Tournament for the second-straight season and seventh time in program history.
