CONWAY, Ark. -- The Bellevue University softball team snapped 23rd-ranked Central Baptist College's nine-game winning streak with a 5-0 win in the Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament Thursday night at City College Park.
Bellevue improved its record to 34-15. Central Baptist slipped to 34-8 overall.
The Bruins advance to the conference tournament championship game tomorrow at 2 p.m.
Kelli Fisher struck out nine and improved to 17-5 this year. She allowed just six hits in the complete game.
The game was scoreless until an RBI single by Sydney Robertson gave the Bruins a 1-0 advantage in the top of the third inning. Ashley Gigax, the MCAC Newcomer of the Year, added to BU's lead with a two-run double.
Courtney Schendt's two-run homer extended the Bruins' lead to five in the sixth inning.
Joella Bayles took the loss for CBC and fell to 12-3 on the season. She allowed three runs on four hits in 2.2 innings.
