Bruins sweep weekly MCAC softball awards

POINT LOOKOUT, Mo. -- The Bellevue University softball team swept the weekly MCAC awards with Taylor Mohler being named the MCAC Pitcher of the Week and Augusta Ratliff grabbing MCAC Player of the Week honors.

Mohler earned the honor for the second time this season and the seventh time in her career. She finished 2-0 on the week with a pair of complete-game victories. Mohler tallied 16 strikeouts in 12 innings in the circle, finishing the week with a 2.92 ERA.

In Bellevue's 11-0 win over York, Mohler tossed a no-hitter with nine strikeouts and two walks.

Ratliff helped guide the Bruins to four conference victories, batting .615 on the week, including an impressive 1.308 slugging percentage. In Bellevue's doubleheader sweep over York, Ratliff finished 5-for-6 with two home runs, two doubles, and four runs scored. For the week, she drove in seven runs, with three doubles, two home runs, and four runs scored.

The Bruins (32-14/16-4 MCAC) will head to Conway, Ark. this Thursday-Friday, May 1-2, for the MCAC Tournament hosted by Central Baptist College. Bellevue earned the No. 2 seed and will face third-seeded Oklahoma Wesleyan on Thursday at a yet-to-be-determined time.
