BELLEVUE, Neb. -- The Bellevue University softball team posted a doubleheader sweep over in-state foe College of St. Mary Wednesday evening in Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference action at Hall of Fame Fields.

The Bruins, who have now won 12 of their last 15 games, took the first game, 6-0, before winning 10-2 in the finale.

Bellevue, who swept the four-game series against the Flames this season, improved to 26-14 and 12-4 in the MCAC while College of St. Mary dropped to 13-17 overall and 9-7 in league play.

The Bruins will host Briar Cliff University (16-15, 5-7 GPAC) tomorrow with a 4 p.m. nonconference doubleheader at Hall of Fame Fields.

Bellevue 6, College of St. Mary 0

Bellevue outhit the Flames by seven and Kelli Fisher struck out nine as the Bruins took the opener, 6-0.

Shelby Kindelin and Alyssa Matoba both registered two hits while Sydney Robertson recorded a pair of RBIs to lead the offense.

Fisher improved to 14-4 on the season with the one-hit complete game shutout victory.

Kindelin led the bottom of the first off with her first home run of the season to put the Bruins on top, 1-0.

Matoba opened the third inning with a single and came around to score BU's second run of the game on a CSM wild pitch.     

The Bruins stole two bases and scored four runs on four hits and took advantage of a CSM error to extend their lead to 6-0 in the fourth. Augusta Ratliff and Robertson recorded RBIs in the inning.

Leah Kipfer (6-8) took the loss and allowed six runs on eight hits with a career-high 13 strikeouts.

Bellevue 10, College of St. Mary 2 (5 innings)

The Bruins scored two or more runs in four of the first five innings and capitalized on five CSM errors en route to the 10-2 win, in five innings, in the nightcap.

Robertson went 3-for-4 with three runs scored while Katie Malloy and Matoba added two hits apiece.

Taylor Mohler earned her 11th win of the season after tossing a four-hitter. She struck out five of the first six batters and finished with 10 strikeouts. This marks the 10th time this year she has notched 10 or more strikeouts in a game.

BU scored a pair of first inning runs on a CSM throwing error and added an RBI single by Malloy to race out to a quick 3-0 lead.

RBI singles by Ashley Gigax and Robertson pushed the Bruins' lead to 5-0 in the bottom half of the second.

The Flames scored their first two runs of the doubleheader on Shelbi Hatfield's two-RBI single in the top of the third inning to cut their deficit down to three, 5-2.

Malloy and Ratliff tallied RBI hits and the Bruins scored a third run on a CSM throwing error to take an 8-2 advantage.

The first three BU batters singled and the Bruins scored two runs on another error by the Flames to win, 10-2. 

CSM starting pitcher Mariah Gibson (5-3) lasted just one-third of an inning and gave up three runs on two hits with three walks.
