BELLEVUE, Neb. -- The Bellevue University softball team defeated Waldorf College by scores of 11-3 and 1-0 Monday afternoon in Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference action at Hall of Fame Fields.

Bellevue has now won seven-straight games and improved to 21-11 and 8-2 in league play while Waldorf fell to 26-6 overall and 4-6 in the MCAC.

The Bruins will play host to Doane College tomorrow (April 8) with a 3:00 p.m. doubleheader.

Bellevue 11, Waldorf 3 (5 innings)

Bellevue recorded 11 hits and scored nine runs in the final three innings to take the opener, 11-3, in five innings.

Shelby Kindelin went 3-for-4 with two runs and Kristin Burhenne, Ashley Gigax, and Katie Malloy all recorded two hits and two RBIs apiece.

Kindelin led the bottom of the first off with a triple and scored on a balk to give BU a 1-0 lead.

Malloy gave the Bruins a two-run lead with a solo home run in the second.

WC scored two runs on three hits and took advantage of a pair of Bruin errors as the Warriors tied the game at 2-2 in the top of the third.

BU responded with six runs in the home half of the third to regain the lead, 8-2. Burhenne and Gigax recorded two-run RBI singles while Courtney Schendt and Malloy also notched RBI hits in the inning.

The Warriors scored a run in the fouth on a single to cut BU's lead down to five, 8-3.

Alyssa Matoba and Kindelin tallied RBI hits and the Bruins scored on an error in the bottom of the fifth to win, 11-3.

Kelli Fisher improved to 11-3 and recorded six strikeouts in the complete game.

Marisa Donnelly (14-5) took the loss for WC and gave up eight runs on six hits in three innings.

Bellevue 1, Waldorf 0

Bellevue's second inning run proved to the be only run of the game in the finale as the Bruins won, 1-0.

Taylor Mohler (9-6) earned the win in the circle and struck out 12 batters while giving up just four hits. 

The Bruins recorded five hits, capped off by an RBI single by Kindelin to take a 1-0 advantage in the second.

BU outhit the Warriors by four, 8-4. Kindelin and Schendt both went 2-for-3 in the game.

Maggie Hawley (12-1) suffered her first loss of the season for WC.
