Four Bruins named to NAIA all-Nebraska softball team

Amanda Neumann was named the honorary captain of the Omaha World-Herald all-Nebraska softball team as four Bruins earned first team honors in an announcement made today.

Joining Neumann on the first team included Shelby Kindelin, Katie Malloy and Kelsie Bridgeford. Taylor Mohler and Augusta Ratliff were both awarded honorable mention accolades.

Neumann, who was named a second team All-American, split time as a pitcher, shortstop and third basemen and set the school record this season with 22 doubles, which ranked seventh nationally. She also tied the school record with 19 home runs, which also ranked fourth in the NAIA. 

Neumann led the Bruins with 71 RBIs, 22 doubles, 19 home runs and was second with a .361 batting average and a .775 slugging percentage. In the circle, she finished the year with a 16-4 record, a 2.44 ERA and a team-leading 159 strikeouts. 

A two-time first team all-MCAC selection and first team NAIA All-American, Bridgeford led the Bruins with a .446 batting average, 74 hits, four triples and an .813 slugging percentage. She was second on the team with 14 doubles, 13 home runs and 60 RBIs.

Kindelin was a first team all-conference selection while being named the MCAC co-Pitcher of the Year. She compiled a 15-4 record with a 1.74 ERA and 93 strikeouts in 96.2 innings of work. Kindelin also batted .356 with 14 doubles, five home runs, 23 RBIs and 46 runs scored.

Malloy, a second team all-MCAC in 2013, batted .295 with 10 doubles, 39 RBIs and 23 runs scored.

The Bruins finished the 2013 season with a 42-11 overall record, winning the MCAC Tournament title, while advancing to the NAIA Softball National Championships Opening Round.
