
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Senior Amanda Neumann was named the NAIA National Player of the Week for her performances in the Bruins' eight games last week.
It marked the first time in school history that a Bruin has won the prestigious honor.
Neumann guided the Bruins to a 7-1 record on the week, while blasting six home runs, including three in the Bruins' 8-0 win over York on April 27. She also batted .444 with nine runs, 15 RBIs and two stolen bases. Her slugging percentage for the week was 1.111.
In the circle, Neuman went 2-1 with a 1.85 ERA and 19 strikeouts in 11 1/3 innings or work.
Neumann leads the nation in total doubles (22), and is sixth in runs batted in per game (1.4), seventh in total runs batted in (63), and eighth in home runs (15). She is second on the Bruins with a .383 batting average for the season.
The Bruins will travel to Conway, Ark. this Thursday-Friday, May 2-3, for the MCAC Softball Tournament. Bellevue, the No. 2 seed, will face third-seeded Oklahoma Wesleyan at 2 p.m. on Thursday in the opening round.
