Bridgeford, Mohler pick up MCAC honors
POINT LOOKOUT, Mo. -- Bellevue University freshmen Kelsie Bridgeford and Taylor Mohler were named the Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference's Player and Pitcher of the Week announced by the league office today.

Bridgeford batted .529 with three doubles, three home runs, nine RBIs and two stolen bases, helping the Bruins to a 6-0 record.

In BU's doubleheader sweep at Central Christian College on April 21, she went 5-for-5 with three doubles, one home run, five RBIs and five runs scored. She currently ranks fourth on the team in hitting, batting .365 while adding 13 doubles, eight home runs and 30 RBIs.

For the third time this season, Mohler was named the MCAC Pitcher of the Week. The Cedar Creek, Neb., native tossed three complete games, including two shut outs, without allowing an earned run in 19.0 innings of work. She struck out 28 batters, surrendering just seven hits and three walks.

In the Bruins' 11-0 win at CCC, she struck out 10 batters in five innings, giving up just two hits and a walk. For the season, Mohler leads the pitching staff with a 16-5 record with 17 complete games, 166 strikeouts and a 2.16 ERA  in 139.2 innings.

BU has won nine straight games and 12 of its last 13 contests and is currently 36-14 on the season with a 7-1 mark in the MCAC. The Bruins will play at York College on Tuesday, April 24 with a 3:00 p.m. doubleheader.
