CLERMONT, Fla. --The Bellevue University softball team continued its strong play in the National Training Center Spring Games, concluding the tournament with a pair of wins to improve to 10-9 on the season. The Bruins defeated St. Mary's (Minn.) University, 4-2, before shutting out the University of St. Francis (Ill.), 7-0.
Bellevue, which has now won four-straight games, finished the tournament with a 7-1 record.
In the 4-2 victory over SMU, the Bruins jumped out to a 4-0 lead with a single run in the bottom of the first, two more in the third and another in the fourth. The Cardinals climbed back into the contest with a run in the fifth and another in the sixth, to cut the lead in half, but could get no closer.
Bellevue's win over St. Francis was highlighted by a grand slam from Amanda Neumann in the fourth inning.
The Bruins will head to Crete, Neb. on Tuesday, March 13 for a 3 p.m. doubleheader against Doane College.
