OMAHA, Neb. -- Bellevue University sophomore Amanda Neumann was named the NAIA all-Nebraska honorary captain announced today by the Omaha-World Herald.

Neumann, who was named the MCAC Player and Pitcher of the Year, hit .409 with four doubles, two triples, 15 home runs and 45 RBIs. In the circle, she compiled a 23-10 record with a 2.83 ERA in 195.2 innings of work and set the single-season record for strikeouts with 240. She recorded 18 complete games and five shutouts including a no-hitter with a season-high 16 strikeouts at College of Saint Mary on April 27. Neumann also registered a 19-game hit streak from March 15 to April 27.

Earning honorable mention honors included Melissa Ackley, Brooke Ellis, Jessica Guyle, Kathryn Wardian and Kim Wees.

The starting catcher in 44 games, Ackley earned first team all-MCAC honors and hit .294 with with 16 runs, three doubles, one home run and 16 RBIs.

Ellis was the only player to start in all 51 games for the Bruins and batted .319 with 30 runs scored, eight doubles, one triple and 10 home runs. She also led the team with 46 RBIs.

A native of Mead, Neb., Guyle batted .352 with 34 runs scored, four doubles, three triples and 22 RBIs while earning first team all-MCAC honors at shortstop. Guyle paced the Bruins with 23 stolen bases in 26 attempts.

Wardian, who was named the MCAC Newcomer of the Year, hit .368 with 40 runs scored, eight doubles, 15 home runs and 37 RBIs. She also led the conference with a .792 slugging percetage.

Wees earned second team all-MCAC accolades and hit .331 with 34 runs, nine doubles, two home runs and 24 RBIs as the starting second baseman.

The Bruins finished the 2011 season with a 32-19 overall record, a 12-0 MCAC mark, the MCAC regular season and tournament titles, and the program's second-straight appearance at the NAIA Softball National Championship.
