BELLEVUE, Neb. -- The Bellevue University softball team will host the 2011 Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament Thursday-Friday, May 5-6 at Hall of Fame Fields. The top-seeded Bruins will open the tournament on May 5 with a 12:00 p.m. game against Oklahoma Wesleyan University.
The Bruins finished the regular season with an overall record of 28-17 and a 12-0 league mark. OWU is currently 18-30 and 5-7 in conference play.
BU swept the Eagles this season on April 17 in Bartlesville, Okla. The Bruins won the opener, 5-2, before taking the nightcap, 4-1.
Pitcher and third baseman Amanda Neumann leads BU in pitching and batting. In the circle, she is 19-8 with a 3.05 ERA in 163 innings. She also holds the single-season record for strikeouts with 203 this year. Offensively, Neumann is batting .423 with 39 runs scored, 14 home runs and 41 RBIs. The sophomore from Papillion, Neb., has been named the MCAC Pitcher of the Week four times and the conference Player of the Week three times.
