BELLEVUE, Neb. -- For the third consecutive season, the Bellevue University softball team completed a perfect conference season sweeping Haskell Indian Nations University, 5-1 and 8-0, Thursday afternoon at Hall of Fame Fields in Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference action.

With the doubleheader sweep, Bellevue improved to 28-17 overall and finished 12-0 in the MCAC while Haskell dropped to 4-30 and 3-9 in league play.
 
Jessica Guyle went 5-for-8 with three runs, four RBIs and two stolen bases to pace the Bruin offense.

The Bruins will host the MCAC conference tournament Thursday and Friday, May 5-6. Complete tournament bracket and game times will be announced next week.

Bellevue 5, Haskell 1
 
The Bruins capitalized on five walks and two errors to pull out a 5-1 win in the opener.

Bellevue opened the scoring in the second inning on an infield single to the pitcher by Guyle that allowed Kathryn Wardian to score from third. The Bruins scored their second run of the game on a bases loaded walk to Kim Wees.

Haskell cut its deficit in half with a RBI double by Leah Eike in the third inning.

The Bruins scord three runs on four hits in the sixth inning. A throwing error by the Indians' third baseman Jessica Goldring allowed pinch runner Kelsey Morrissey to cross home plate. BU added a sacrifice fly to center field by Wees and a RBI single by Amanda Neumann to win, 5-1.

Neumann improved to 19-8 this season allowing five hits and one run while striking out 11 batters in the complete game. Nicole Bennett suffered the loss for the Indians.

Game 2
Bellevue 8, Haskell 0

Bellevue out-hit Haskell 11-3 in the nightcap and a four-run third inning helped lift the Bruins to an 8-0 win in game two.

Guyle led the second game off with an infield double, stole third base and came around to score on a single to center field by Wees to give the Bruins a 1-0 lead after the opening inning.

A two-run single by Guyle highlighted a four-run third inning for BU. Katie Malloy added a RBI single and the Bruins scored on a fielding error to take a 5-0 lead.

The Bruins scored their sixth run on a two-out RBI single by Malloy that scored Wardian from second.

Bellevue ended the game with two runs in the sixth inning with RBIs by Guyle and Kristin Burhenne.

Allie Bartley earned her sixth win of the season in relief, without allowing a hit or walk in 3.2 innings pitched while recording two strikeouts. Sam Robertson took the loss for HIN, giving up eight runs on 11 hits.
