BELLEVUE, Neb. -- The Bellevue University softball team won its fourth and fifth-straight games with a non-conference doubleheader sweep over Midland University Wednesday night at Hall of Fame Fields. The Bruins won 3-1 and 6-2 to improve to 22-13 on the season.

Midland fell to 10-27 overall on the season with the two losses.

The Bruins travel to Baker University on Friday (April 22) for 2 p.m. non-conference doubleheader. Bellevue will play at Central Christian on Saturday (April 23) for two games beginning at 12 p.m.

Game 1
Amanda Neumann registered 11 strikeouts and belted her 12th home run of the season to lead the Bruins to the 3-1 win in the opener. Neumann gave up one unearned run while allowing just one hit to garner her 15th win of the season.

Bellevue scored two runs in the bottom of the second on a throwing error by Warrior catcher Lenae Krszak and an RBI single by Kim Wees.

Neumann blasted a solo shot over the center field fence to make it 3-0 in the bottom of the fifth frame.

Midland scored a run in the sixth on a throwing error by Bruin catcher Melissa Ackley that allowed Ashley Willard to score from third.

Game 2
The Bruins used a four-run fifth inning to battle back for the 6-2 win in the nightcap.

An RBI single by Neumann gave BU an early 1-0 advantage in the bottom of the first.

Consecutive RBI singles by Lyndsi Eckelberry and Kendall Mayher gave Midland a 2-1 lead in the top of the fifth inning.

The Bruins quickly answered with a two-run triple by Brooke Ellis and a two-run homer by Kathryn Wardian in the bottom of the fifth to regain the lead at 5-2.

An RBI triple by Wees in the top of the sixth made the final score 6-2.

Neumann picked up the win, allowing just one hit while replacing starter Kelly Wieczorek in the fifth inning, to improve to 16-6 on the season.
