DECATUR, Ala. -- The Bellevue University softball team managed just three hits as Lindsey Wilson College handed the Bruins a 5-0 shutout in the Bruins' final game at the NAIA Softball National Championships Monday afternoon at Morgan Wilson Softball Complex.

Under first-year head coach Michala Cimino, the Bruins ended their season with a 32-17 overall record and the program's fourth appearance in the NAIA Softball National Championship. Bellevue went undefeated in the MCAC at 10-0 and captured the 2010 MCAC Tournament title as well.

Blue Raider pitcher Morgan Paschall allowed just three hits, while recording six strikeouts and one walk in six innings of work, improving to 21-5 on the season.

Senior Alissa Crumley took the loss, giving up three runs in the first inning, while registering two strikeouts in the loss. Seniors Kimber Markley and Aly Bowers also shared time on the mound with Bowers pitching the final three innings, scattering two hits with no walks and one strikeout.

Senior Kendra Gansz led the Bruins at the plate, going 2-for-3, including a double, BU's only extra-base hit on the day.

The Blue Raiders struck early with three runs in the bottom of the first inning on Jamie Williams' two-run double and a squeeze bunt from Kelly McCarty that scored Williams from third.

McCarty drove in Williams again in the bottom of the third on an RBI single to center to put the Blue Raiders up, 4-0. Williams reached base on her second double of the contest.

LWC added an unearned run in the bottom of the sixth frame after a throwing error by Bruin short stop Jessica Guyle allowed Anyibell Ramirez to score from second base, putting the Blue Raiders up 5-0.

The Bruins mounted their only threat in the top of the seventh inning, putting runners on second and third with no outs following a walk by Morgan Wiesner and a double to deep left field by Gansz. However, Ramirez replaced Paaschall on the mound, and recorded three-straight strikeouts to end the game.
