Bruins cruise to sweep at Haskell, 11-2, 15-1

LAWRENCE, Kan. -- The Bellevue University softball team continued their dominating league play, cruising to an 11-2, 15-1 doubleheader sweep at Haskell Indian Nations University Saturday afternoon. The Bruins collected 29 hits in the twinbill, including four home runs and Alissa Crumley picked up both the victories.

The Bruins improved to 21-10 overall and 8-0 in the MCAC. Haskell fell to 4-15 and 0-2 in league play.

GAME 1
The Bruins pounded out 12 hits, including two home runs, and the Bruin pitching staff held the Indians to three hits in Bellevue's 11-2 win in the opener.

A two-run homer by Kendra Gansz in the first and a three-run blast by Katie Lefler in the seventh highlighted the Bruin offense.

Crumley allowed just one hit while striking out 10 batters with no walks in five innings.

GAME 2
Bellevue recorded a season-high 17 hits to back up the one-hit pitching performance of Crumley as the Bruins cruised to the 15-1 win in the nightcap.

Jenny Gawart and Lefler collected home runs in the game. Gawart launched a two-run shot in the Bruins' six-run third inning. Lefler connected on her second homer of the day, a solo shot in the top of the fifth inning.

Crumley improved to 13-2 on the season, while striking out six batters with no walks in five innings on the mound.
