PERU, Neb. -- Senior pitcher Alissa Crumley allowed just one run in two complete games and Kendra Gansz and Brooke Ellis each blasted homers as the Bellevue University softball team swept a conference doubleheader at Peru State, winning 4-0 and 3-1 Tuesday afternoon at Centennial Complex.

The Bruins improved to 18-9 on the season and 6-0 in the MCAC. Peru State fell to 12-16 overall and 0-2 in league play.

GAME 1
Crumley, the reigning MCAC Pitcher of the Week, tossed a one-hitter as the Bruins shut out Peru, 4-0 in the opener. With two outs in the seventh inning, Crumley was one pitch away from recording a perfect game, before the Bobcats' Alyssa Mangum hit a single to left field on Crumley's changeup. Crumley recorded 10 strikeouts and allowed no walks while notching her second complete-game shutout of the year.

After a scoreless first three innings, Gansz led off the fourth inning with a solo homer for the first run of the game. Nikki Sedlak's two-out two-run single to center field gave the Bruins a 3-0 advantage in the fourth.

The Bruins added an insurance run in the top of the seventh when Erica McCoy stole home.
