Box Score

TUCSON, Ariz. -- The Bellevue University softball team erupted for six runs in the sixth inning while recording an 11-3 win over the University of Great Falls in the Bruins' opening game of the Tucson Invitational Games.

The Bruins, who improved to 2-4 on the season, had their second game of the tournament against Purdue North Central canceled due to wet field conditions and a winter storm watch in the Tucson area.

With the game tied at 3-3, Bellevue scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth and ended the game with the six-run sixth inning.

Jessica Guyle went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI to lead the Bruins at the plate. Senior Aly Bowers picked up her first win of the season, pitching the final two innings while improving to 1-2.

Bellevue will continue action in the tournament with two games on Monday. The Bruins will face Viterbo University at 6 p.m. (CST) and Calumet College of St. Joseph at 8 p.m.
