Bruins drop pair at CBC February Meltdown

CONWAY, Ark. -- The Bellevue University softball team lost a pair of games Saturday at the Central Baptist College February Meltdown, falling in the first game to the host school Central Baptist, 12-1, before dropping a heartbreaker to Central Methodist, 1-0, in eight innings in the nightcap.

With the losses, the Bruins fell to 1-3 on the season.

Central Baptist used a 10-run third inning to race past Bellevue in the opener in five innings. The Mustangs blasted three home runs and a pair of doubles in the win. Senior Aly Bowers took the loss, falling to 0-2 on the season.

Central Methodist's Jessica Henderson hit a bases-loaded single in the bottom of the eighth inning to score the game's only run as the Eagles escaped with the 1-0 win. Senior Alissa Crumley got the loss, despite giving up just five hits and recording seven strikeouts.

The Bruins will conclude the tournament on Sunday with a 10 a.m. game against Texas Wesleyan University.
