ASHLAND, Neb. -- Every Bruin runner set a seasonal or personal best at today's inaugural Platte River Rumble hosted by Creighton University and UNO. The meet was held under fall-like conditions with overcast skies and temperatures in the fifties over the undulating two-kilometer loop at Mahoney State Park.

A largely NCAA Division I and Division II field of 146 runners turned in some very fast times and Bruin runners were no exception to that. Richard Marcoux set the pace by eclipsing his lifetime best for eight kilometers by almost forty seconds as he crossed the line in 79th position. Marcoux's time was 26:26.3, a pace of 5:19 per mile.

Collin Kotz improved on his season best by forty-five seconds with a 27:50.1 clocking, crossing the line in 111th place. Seven spots back in 118th was Aaron Newton who turned in a lifetime best as well, coming home in 28:27.7.

Rounding out Bruin competitors for the day was Kaleb Wooten, competing in just his second race of the season but taking over two minutes from his previous outing with his time of 29:48.6, finishing in the 131st spot.

Head Coach Craig Christians: "I couldn't be happier with the way we ran today. We threw the guys into the deep end today with the high caliber of this meet and I thought that they performed admirably. To come away with everybody running a season or personal best is a great sign as we approach the championship season. We've got some guys who will be competing for spots at the national meet, and that is exciting."

The Bruins conclude their regular season next Saturday when they travel to Yankton, S.D., for the Mount Marty Invitational.
