NORTH SIOUX CITY, S.D. -- Three men represented the Bruins at Saturday's Briar Cliff Cross Country Invite held at the Adams Nature Preserve in North Sioux City, S.D. Pleasant fall conditions and a light breeze were on tap for the 95 runners contesting the men's eight-kilometer (4.97 miles) race over the crushed rock trail of the preserve.

Richard Marcoux led the Bruin men across the finish as he has done all season. His 27:59.8 clocking placed him 35th. A short distance back was Collin Kotz crossing the line in 51st and running 28:46.4. Kaleb Wooten completed the Bruin trio with his first race of the season after dealing with an injury and ran 32:35.4 and a 84th place finish.

Head Coach Craig Christians: "It was a little bit of a mixed bag for the men today, but I'm encouraged and think that once we get a couple of guys back running, we are going to put together a solid team by the time the conference meet comes around. Richard was a little disappointed with his effort but he's been slowed by an injury, and I am excited about the fact that he seems to have gotten over that. Collin had a rebound from his race at Wayne and was near his season best. Kaleb was sort of testing it out today, and I thought for missing as much training as he has, he ran well. So we're going to take encouragement from all three of those runs today and use the next five weeks to become the best team we can be when we travel to Dickinson for conference."

The Bruins take a break from racing next weekend and will resume action on Friday, October 14, when they compete in the inaugural Platte River Rumble at Mahoney State Park.
