Bellevue University head cross country coach Craig Christians announced the first signee for the 2022 men's cross country class with the addition of Richard Marcoux (Omaha, Neb./North Iowa Area CC/Omaha North HS).

Marcoux will begin his academic and athletic careers at Bellevue University beginning in the fall of 2022.

Signee: Richard Marcoux
Hometown: Omaha, NE

Major: Secondary Education

Part of the NJCAA Division II national championship cross country team in 2020, placing 35th among 145 runners.

Personal Bests:
8K cross country – 27:31.4
One mile indoor track – 4:41.26
1500 meters outdoor track – 4:17:26
800 meters outdoor track – 2:01.93

"Richard is going to make an immediate impact for us next fall and I'm excited about what he's going to add to the team," state Christians. "He's coming in with some great collegiate experience competing at the junior college national level and that is going to translate to success in the North Star and NAIA. What caught my eye was the tremendous improvement he's made from his time as a high school runner at Omaha North to where he's at now. Richard will be a part of our secondary education program with goals of teaching and coaching so he brings the desire to not only improve but to learn the methods necessary to be successful in distance running. That's going to be a big plus for the team."

The next action for the Bruin distance squads will take place on Saturday, January 15 when they travel to Crete, Neb. for the Scott Nisely Memorial Classic on the Doane University campus.
